non horizontal 3D printing

I often don't get too excited until I see something like this that pushes 3D printing beyond its already miraculous universe. Of course its WHAT you make with it that counts, but still, I am inspired. Petr Novikov and Saša Jokić from Barcelona's Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia created the machine during their internship at Joris Laarman Lab, where students are given a platform to experiment with new digital fabrication methods. I wonder how widespread the popularity of horizontal 3D printing is? After all these years I see almost everywhere only vertical 3D printing.
